GEF Evaluation Policy 2019

The GEF addresses global environmental issues while supporting national sustainable development initiatives. It does so through a partnership involving 184 member countries, 18 Agencies, recipient countries, civil society organizations, and the private sector. In such a large partnership, a special challenge is posed in adequately monitoring and evaluating the achievements of the GEF, considering the activities of all partners in a consistent and coherent manner. The GEF Evaluation Policy aims to address that challenge.

The Policy establishes the principles of evaluation in all activities funded by the GEF. It describes minimum standards that need to be applied at the project and program levels, and the roles and tasks of all partners in the network of GEF Agencies and organizations.
