The review will draw on several sources for gathering information. Literature review will be an important source of information. The literature review will include recent evaluations undertaken by the GEF IEO such as the ‘Evaluation of the GEF Civil Society y Network of GEF’ and the ‘Joint GEF UNDP Evaluation of the Small Grants Programme,’ which have covered several aspects related to CSO participation in GEF activities. The review would also include Council Documents that have addressed participation of CSO s in GEF activities and other relevant documents.

The approach paper for the Sixth Comprehensive Evaluation of the GEF (OPS6) identifies RBM as one of the areas that will be covered as part of its work to understand relevance and global contribution of the GEF. The aim will be to understand the extent the RBM system captures results of GEF activities and supports adaptive management. This review is being under taken as an input to OPS-6. It will address the key issues related to RBM specified in the OPS-6 approach paper. The work on tracking tools undertaken as part of APR2015 will be an important input to this review.

The objectives of the KM study are to assess the role of the GEF as a knowledge broker and provider, and the relevance and effectiveness of knowledge management and sharing across the GEF partnership. The overall purpose is to identify any eventual systemic issues that need to be addressed in planning for GEF-7.
