Join the webinar on Learning from GEF Support in Fragile and Conflict-Affected Situations organized by the Environment, Fragility, and Conflict Community of Practice of the World Bank. The Independent Evaluation Office of the GEF will present its Evaluation of GEF Support in Fragile and Conflict-Affected Situations. The evaluation assessed the impacts of conflict and fragility on the design and implementation of GEF interventions at three scales: globally, at the country and regional levels, and at the project level.

The Independent Evaluation Office of the GEF is a sponsor of the 2021 Canadian Evaluation Society conference scheduled from May 9 – 14 with workshops starting April 30. The conference theme is centered on Evaluation Utilization: Achieving Our Potential. The IEO is sponsoring 10 participants to the conference from Latin America, Africa, and Asia. A virtual booth where users can ask questions to the office will also be available to participants of the conference.

The GEF celebrates Earth-Day by marking the first day of the GEF-8 replenishment process

The GEF-8 replenishment meeting began with a presentation by the IEO, which was well received with particular interest in integration, innovation, and private sector engagement. A report on key findings from completed and ongoing IEO evaluations was prepared to inform negotiations.

The full OPS7 report The Role and Contribution of the GEF in Supporting a Global Green Future will be made available for the second replenishment meeting in September 2021.

PlanetGOLD in Review: Making a World of Difference in Small-scale Gold Mining

The findings of the recently completed Evaluation of GEF Interventions in ASGM were presented to an event on planetGOLD in Review: Making a World of Difference in Small-scale Gold Mining. The event aimed to inform and raise awareness among governments, civil society and private sector partners from the gold supply chain (refiners, jewelers, electronics) regarding accomplishments of planetGOLD since its launch in 2019, and plans for its expansion.
