The GEF Independent Evaluation Office hosted a brown bag lunch discussion on "How can environment funds such as the GEF attract more private sector engagement?" from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm on May 15, 2017.
Carlo Carugi, Senior Evaluation Officer of the Independent Evaluation Office, participated in a panel discussion on "Lessons from Applying Rapid Impact Evaluation in Canada and Internationally" at the 2017 Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) Conference in Vancouver. The IEO's presentation was focused on applying rapid impact evaluation to assess impacts of the GEF - UNIDO energy efficiency program in South East Asia.
The thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Basel Convention (BC COP-13), the eighth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention (RC COP-8) and the eighth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention (SC COP-8) was held from April 24-May 5 in Geneva, Switzerland. The webinar will focus on the publication of the book Evaluating Climate Change Action for Sustainable Development which had its genesis in the Earth-Eval following the Second International Conference on Evaluating Climate Change and Development. Some of you may remember this event from November 2014 that brought together about 300 leading experts and policymakers in the field to Washington, DC for 3 days.
At its 51st meeting in October 2016, the GEF Council requested the Trustee, in cooperation with the Secretariat, to initiate discussions on the 7th replenishment of resources of the GEF Trust Fund (GEF-7). The 1st replenishment meeting provided an opportunity for Contributing Participants to review GEF performance and evaluate progress, assess future funding needs, and agree on a financing framework.
The 8th African evaluation Association (AfrEA) International Conference "Evaluation of the SDGs: Opportunities and Challenges for Africa" will take place from March 27-30, 2017 in Kampala, Uganda. The IEO will participate in two workshop sessions:
