Program Manager, Corporate, Climate Evaluations

Neeraj Kumar Negi is a Senior Evaluation Officer and Program Manager for Corporate and Climate Evaluations at the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Independent Evaluation Office (IEO), World Bank Group. Since joining the GEF IEO in 2005, Neeraj has led major evaluations shaping GEF’s strategies on resource allocation, sustainability, results monitoring, and activity cycle optimization. His work has covered a wide range of topics including cofinancing, results-based management, climate change, sustainable cities, sustainable transport, the GEF System for Transparent Allocation of Resources, Health of the GEF Partnership, and measurement of development effectiveness and impact. He has played a key role in developing evaluation guidance for the GEF, and his expertise extends to institutional systems, including evaluations of agency self-evaluation systems and the GEF Portal.

 

From 1998 to 2003, Neeraj worked at Seva Mandir, gaining experience in grassroots development through direct engagement with local communities. In 2003, he also coordinated a large-scale field survey for the Poverty Action Lab, contributing to impact evaluation research.

 

He holds a Master’s in Public Affairs from Princeton University, with dual specialization in economics and international development. He also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Forestry Management from the Indian Institute of Forest Management, and is currently a PhD candidate in Public Policy at the University of Maryland.
