Evaluation Analyst

Biodiversity and Cross-Cutting Themes

Eki is an Evaluation Analyst at the GEF IEO, where he has worked on evaluations related to biodiversity, chemicals and waste, and cross-cutting issues. Eki previously held research and evaluation roles at the International Finance Corporation (IFC); the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA); the World Bank; and the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL). Trained in economics, he has designed and managed applied research and impact evaluations on topics including governance, natural resource management, agriculture, and private sector development in Asia and the Pacific, Africa, and Latin America. In his work, Eki combines qualitative and quantitative methods, including econometrics, artificial intelligence, and geospatial analysis.  At J-PAL, he contributed to research projects that integrated randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with qualitative methods. His mixed-methods research on the marine protected areas and fisheries in Indonesia was awarded the Mossavar-Rahmani Center Prize by the Harvard Environmental Economics Program.

 

Eki holds an MPA in International Development degree from Harvard University, where he studied as a John F. Kennedy Fellow, and a Bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Wesleyan University, where he was a Freeman Asian Scholar.
