Thematic Evaluations
Kseniya Temnenko has more than 18 years of experience in evaluation and learning in the areas of environment and development.
In her current role in the Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of the Global Environment Facility she has been working on thematic evaluations in the areas of innovation, learning and knowledge management, scaling up, transformational change, and failure, as well as focal area studies.
Through substantive involvement with evaluation networks (such as United Nations Evaluation Group (UNEG), American Evaluation Association (AEA), International Development Evaluation Association (IDEAS)), Kseniya has contributed to development of evaluation tools, methodologies, and synthesis studies. She has also developed training materials and dissemination products on evaluation lessons and methods.
Her previous work in the Evaluation Office of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) was in the areas of evaluation systems strengthening.
Kseniya guided the development of the UNICEF's Approach to Monitoring and Evaluation of Policy Advocacy, led the establishment of the internal evaluation help desk function that served over 300 monitoring and evaluation staff across the globe, and championed the development of e-learning activities at the United Nations Evaluation Group's Training Task Force.
She also worked and consulted for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Eurasia Foundation, and the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) and conducted project, program, thematic, and strategic evaluations and studies.
Kseniya Temnenko has a master's degree in Sociology from a University in Ukraine, a certificate from the International Program on Development Evaluation Training (IPDET). She also attended courses in evaluation and research methodology by the American Evaluation Association, Claremont Graduate University, Essex Summer School in Social Science Data Analysis, European Evaluation Society, the Evaluator’s Institute, George Washington University.
