Geeta Batra and Kseniya Temnenko of the GEF IEO presented findings from the Review of GEF Support for Transformational Change at a workshop hosted by the Climate Investment Funds.

The presentation drew on evaluation evidence to identify three key drivers of transformational change in GEF-supported interventions:

• Level of ambition — projects and programs designed to drive fundamental changes affecting entire system
• Mechanisms for scaling up — effective strategies to expand impacts beyond the life of the intervention
• Market engagement — harnessing market forces where opportunities exist to embed change at scale

The workshop brought together practitioners and institutions from across the multilateral climate finance community to exchange evidence and learning on transformational climate action.
