Nature-based Solutions (NbS) are gaining prominence as an approach to address interconnected environmental and development challenges, yet questions remain about how effectively they are being implemented at scale.

This video distills findings from the first independent evaluation of the Global Environment Facility’s support for Nature-based Solutions, covering 933 projects from GEF-5 to GEF-8.

Through field examples in Nepal, India, Mexico, and the Philippines, the video examines how NbS interventions such as reforestation and climate-smart agriculture restore ecosystems, support livelihoods, and build resilience.

It also highlights key challenges, including limited uptake, coordination gaps, and barriers to sustained investment..

This video is part of the EvalVision series and was presented during GEF Council Meeting 69.
