On June 2-3, 2026, the GBFF Council convened for its sixth meeting in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on the sidelines of the Eighth GEF Assembly, to review progress and take decisions on financing the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
Two GEF Independent Evaluation Office documents informed the Council's deliberations on policies and programs.
The first is the second formative evaluation of the GBFF, assessing the Fund's early design, governance, and initial portfolio across its first five selection rounds.
The second presents the IEO's FY27 Work Program and Budget under the GBFF.
